Gray Snapper

Latin Name:  Lutjanus griseus
 

General Size:  13" x 5"

The crafty gray snapper is one of many snappers in the Lutjanidae family. These snappers can be found in many kinds habitats including the shallow mangroves hence the nickname "mangrove snapper" or "mango". In large part they are found in saline environments but can, on occasion, be observed in freshwater. They feed primarily at night on fishes, crustaceans and other invertebrates.
