Hog Wrasse

Latin Name:  Lachnolaimus maximus

General Size:  15" x 7"

The hogfish is one of the largest wrasses in the Atlantic and is a favorite of spear fishermen because of their tendency to turn broadside to divers or freedivers making them an easy target. The hogfish is found in the family Labridae and has specialized jaws in its throat for crushing hard-shelled organisms.
