Largemouth Bass

Latin Name:  Micropterus salmoides floridanus

General Size:  23" x 8"

Fishermen throughout the United States, from the East Coast to the West Coast square up to do battle with one of the best known freshwater fighters around, the Largemouth Bass. Also known as "bucket mouth" this Centrarchid hunts crayfish, frogs, and small fishes. The Largemouth can be found in ponds, lakes, and the backwaters of small creeks and rivers. Arguably the largest Largemouth ever taken on a hook and line came out of Clear Lake in California.
