Florida Pompano

Latin Name: Trachinotus carolinus 

General Size:  14" x 8"

This jack (Family Carangidae) is one of many in the jack family and can be found in Western Atlantic waters from New England to Brazil. This school-forming pelagic can also be found in brackish waters in addition to the open ocean. They are an often targeted species for surfcasters and are a highly prized food fish. Florida Pompano are the most expensive fish on U.S markets.
