Latin Name: Balistes vetula
General Size: 15"
x 12"
The queen triggerfish is a reef-associated species found in the Balistidae family. Found throughout the majority of the Western
Atlantic coast as well as Africa’s Western coast these fish feed primarily on benthic invertebrates and like a lot of Tetraodontiforms
have the ability to blow water out through their mouths. They use the blowing technique to overturn potential prey items such
as sea urchins to get at the more vulnerable underside. These fish rarely exceed two feet in length and 10 or 12 pounds.
