Southern Flounder

Latin Name:  Paralichthys lethostigma

General Size:  23 x 12”

Found in the Western Atlantic from North Carolina to Florida and the Gulf of Mexico this bottom-dwelling predator is found in the
Paralichthyidae family. This flatfish can tolerate both brackish and marine environments as it ambushes prey such as fishes, crabs
and shrimps. The Southern Flounder is a very cryptic species that blends in well with muddy bottom on which it rests. They are
highly prized by fishermen for their excellent fillets.
