Vermillion Snapper

Latin Name:  Rhomboplites aurorubens

General Size:  12" x 4"

The family Lutjanidae is host to the vermillion snapper as well as 103 other species. This snapper is found only in the Western Atlantic feeding on fish, shrimp, cephalopods and crabs. These fish can be found in relatively deep waters -as deep as 900 feet in some places. vermillion snapper fillets are said to be a very good tasting fish.
